1. What Tangent is

Tangent is an AI workspace application that lets you organize conversations with large language models (LLMs) into channels and threads. When you send a message, it is routed to a third-party AI provider — OpenAI (GPT-4o), Anthropic (Claude), or Google (Gemini) — to generate a response. Tangent stores your messages so you can search and revisit them later.

2. Information we collect

We collect the minimum information needed to operate the service:

  • Account information: Your name and email address, provided when you sign in via Manus OAuth.
  • Messages and channels: The text of messages you send and receive, the channels and threads you create, and any system prompts you configure.
  • Usage data: Message counts, channel counts, and subscription status — used to enforce plan limits and display usage meters.
  • API keys (optional): If you choose to provide your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API keys, they are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage and are never logged or transmitted in plaintext.
  • Billing information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status — we never see or store your card number.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide the service — routing your messages to AI providers and returning responses.
  • To enforce plan limits (message counts, channel counts).
  • To process payments via Stripe.
  • To send you service-related emails (e.g., billing receipts). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.

4. Third-party AI providers

When you send a message, its content is transmitted to the AI provider you selected (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) to generate a response. Each provider has its own privacy policy:

We do not train AI models on your conversations. We do not sell your data to third parties.

5. Data retention

Your messages and channels are retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted within 30 days. You can export your data at any time from within the app (Pro and Team plans).

6. Security

Your data is stored in an encrypted database. API keys are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. All traffic is transmitted over HTTPS. We follow industry-standard security practices, but no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication on your sign-in account.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Export your conversations (Pro and Team plans).
  • Delete your account and all associated data.
  • Correct inaccurate account information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or sending an email. Continued use of Tangent after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
